Victory Day- 52 years of Bangladesh

Home | Blog | Victory Day- 52 years of Bangladesh

Yesterday was Victory Day, marking 52 years of Bangladesh. Bangladesh is a place I am immensely proud to call my motherland.

The birth of Bangladesh came from a generation that sacrificed and fought a war for liberation, some paid the ultimate price for freedom. The red and green combination featured in the Bangladesh flag 🇧🇩 has a deep meaning. The red marks the blood shed for the green land we know today as Bangladesh. May we always remember in our hearts the sacrifices made for us and the retention of our heritage.

As I grew up in the UK, my mother and father would tell me of their recollection of the war and the roles of family members in the quest for liberation. Uncertainty, determination and fear centered around many of their stories.

For all people and places today at war fighting for freedom, we pray for you, may you find liberation.
