A Journey Toward Sustainable Futures

Welcome to the adventure! This journey matters as much as the destination. This is particularly poignant when it comes to sustainability. We will stumble, we will fall but we must promise not to give up. The future, our future, the planets future, the future generation's future relies on us to make our path towards sustainability.

For this journey, I ask you to bring along your authentic self, the one we sometimes hide away, the ray of sunshine you are, the love and care you hold dear. Together, we can make a difference, one step at a time, as we embark on this critical path to a greener and more equitable sustainable world.

Sustainability is underpinned by concepts of equity, equality and responsibility; I will adhere to take upon myself responsibility as your very own Dr Sustainability. As part of my duty, I promise you and myself, I will give a fair honest account, leading the way in sustainable practices and education, driven by my unwavering sense of duty to pursue a sustainable future.

Education and Resource
It is important that we all understand sustainability. My commitment to you is to curate sustainability resources;  insightful articles, actionable tools, valuable quotes, educational videos and animations that breathe life into the arena of sustainability, so we can foster a culture of curiosity and learning to elevate, amplify and integrate sustainability. I am committed to supporting the delivery of a future where economic prosperity, environmental stewardship and social responsibility coexist in harmony.

Experiences and Stories
As part of the journey, I imagine we will meet some characters along the way. I will share their stories not only from my account but also through their eyes; how they live, how they view the world. Our unique 'lived experiences' anchor us. Being willing to see the world through the lens of others, and accept reality is a manifestation of multiple versions of reality, is one of the most important cornerstones real connection and will aid us in pacing to sustainability, once step at a time.

Culture of care, kindness, compassion and forgiveness
Some of the hardest, yet strongest things we can live by are courage, hope, love and forgiveness. These are essential elements for our journey to sustainability. To love, and allow others to love us, to put courage over fear, love and forgiveness over hate.

We must become comfortable with the uncomfortable. Change and development, of course, lay at the end of your comfort zone. There are organisations out their making their sustainability journey who may stumble, fall, but I want you to get back up and keep going. As a generation we must have the strength to forgive organisations and individuals who have made genuine mistakes. We will face adversity, which must embraced with courage and together we will rise. Sometimes, the hard work we run from is the very thing we need.

It is imperative to empathise slow progress is still progress and it is better than being static. Hopefully progress will flourish, with time knowledge and garnered wisdom in this every developing arena.

Reconnection
This is a path to discover, connect, rediscover and reconnect with people and places in the world. Connection and reconnection are the fabric of our existence.

People, society, communities need us to support the development of our generation and future generation.

As I conclude, I will end with a famous quote by Ban Ki-moon, Former Secretary-General, United Nations, when speaking at 'Climate Week NYC' in 2014 eloquently noted, “If we can’t all swim together, we will sink. There is no plan B, because there is no planet B.”

The pursuit of positive change and sustainability lies within us!

Yours
