PART 3/3

*Top 15 media and equipment training tips*

Here’s what Charlie Marsden covered:

1️⃣1️⃣ It’s important to manage lighting and shadows when recording in your/my home studio…. add depth and shadow in studio set-up, in real life no one is flat faced, your room isn’t flat so avoid that on camera.

1️⃣2️⃣ Managing noise/acoustic in a room…empty rooms (…well, now my empty room) can be quite echoey…introducing a thick rug or wall piece can help manage acoustics.

1️⃣3️⃣ Batch film and only watch after batch is done, makes it easier to manage and be less critical. Hey, who likes the camera!

1️⃣4️⃣ Clothing on camera….avoid thin stripes and swirls in clothing or background. Stripes and swirls can ‘mess’ with eyes and may become a distraction to a someone watching.

1️⃣5️⃣ Avoid the colour red in clothing unless you/your team can take control of the camera editing as the colour red projects differently on camera.

Huge thank you to Charlie Marsden for his patience and navigating me through the training. Highly recommend Charlie, if you are looking for similar type training. He operates Face-to-Face and Virtual, provides 1-2-1 (like mine) or group sessions too.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!
