Kumar, the Himalaya Eye Hospital coordinator discusses the Hospital’s catchment area and informs the Karnali zone (within their catchment) is an area considered to be the most remote area in Nepal.
The land is very hilly with communities living remotely on mountains, on top of mountains, with little access to eye care and cataract operations they need.
The Himalaya Eye Hospital outreach eye camp team has been trying to access the Karnali zone to provide cataract operations. It has no road access and takes 3 days to reach.
Inorder to perform cataract surgery a medical team of 7 have to reach with enough surgical equipment, PPE to safely perform surgery.
