🎙️ Coming to the podcast studio next week: Professor Ken Peattie

I’m delighted that Professor Ken Peattie will be joining me in the podcast studio next week for what promises to be a fascinating conversation about sustainability, where we are, where we are heading, and what needs to change.

Ken is Professor of Marketing and Strategy at Cardiff Business School and has been at the School since 1986. His academic work has centred on sustainability and marketing, sustainable marketing, corporate social responsibility, social marketing and social enterprise, with a longstanding focus on how management and marketing can become more ethical, environmentally sustainable and socially responsible.

This conversation comes at a particularly significant point for Ken, as he prepares to close an extraordinary 40-year chapter at Cardiff University, as the longest-serving member of Cardiff Business School.

We’ll be talking about:
His reflections on 40 years of sustainability thinking what has genuinely changed, and what perhaps has not.
The current sustainability landscape and where he believes the conversation needs to go next.

Sustainability in Higher Education, the role universities, academics and students can play, and whether institutions are moving quickly enough.
Sustainable marketing and the sometimes uncomfortable relationship between consumption, marketing and sustainability.

What the way forward looks like for organisations, educators and the next generation of sustainability leaders.

And, naturally for an academic, there is a book involved…

Ken will also share insights from the third edition of Sustainability Marketing: A Global Perspective, co-authored with Frank-Martin Belz and Naz Onel. The latest edition looks at how marketing can respond to contemporary environmental and social challenges and how sustainability can be integrated into modern marketing strategy.

After four decades of research, teaching and challenging conventional thinking, I’m particularly interested to hear Ken’s perspective on what sustainability now means and what the next chapter needs to look like.

🎙️ Recording next week. More to follow.
