*Dr Sustainability’s Recommended Read*

The Pathless Path is my Recommended Read. It is a slow burner, which carefully curates the idea of moving away from the default traditional path; how things should be done to living how you actually want to; challenging the viewpoint of working to retirement to shifting your perspective of work and even addressing how retirement has not always made people happy.

This publication is not one of my hard-core recommended sustainability books but rather a book that brings together a lot of deeper conversations of direction, meaning of life, sustaining work, well-being, living intentionally and following one’s passion.

It touches on a deep level of connecting with the world through your life and work.

The book is available in a range of formats including more sustainable formats including Audible and Kindle.

I have to admit, it is not the easiest of reads, primarily due to the structure and long chapter format. However, with chapter breaks the book flows smoothly and if you are listening to the Audible version (…like me) it’s quite a smooth transition.

The publication reminds you:

🏆 it is important to give up the traditional world of success to allow you to become who you are meant to be.

💰 More we associate experience with cash value more we think money is what we need to live.

🔍 To ask the deeper questions than just going with what is expected of you in life.

📃 To be reflective and open to change.

💡Reminds you curiosity reappears through your life, lean into it.

🫡 It is important to accept the shifts.

🏃‍♀️The rat-race of work, the grunt, the everyday sustenance is not what you had dreamt of.

💭It reminds you what is at stake of not doing what you truly intended.

🫣 Regret is a bigger worry than taking a chance e.g. be it a shift in work, relationship(s), work-life balance or living just more intentionally.

The publication can be framed through a number of contents from work, relationship, passions to just direction.

Hearing Millerd’s journey helps you realise that facing uncertainty is not necessarily a bad thing as long as you keep moving forward.

Millerd makes you think about your values and what life you really want to live.

The publication is a refreshing take on the evolving nature of work and how it affects our lives.

A must read for anyone struggling with motivation with work, at a cross-road or thinking of exploring an alternative approach to work and life.
